Here comes grandma and grandpa!

We will be soon having visitors from a far off land... Grandma and Grandpa Sprague!

----

Just to add another dimension to the Indian Spragues’ experience, here is an entry from the Chico grandparents about to begin our India experience. Our bags are a fine tuned collection of clothing and necessary items we’ve determined from months of reading and conversations with experienced travelers to this exciting and exotic country. Of course, experienced backpackers that we are, nothing unnecessary has been included though we haven’t gone so far as to drill holes in our toothbrushes or tear the tags off our tea bags! But light travel is so exhilarating. We look forward to few decisions each morning as we set off on our day’s adventures.

We have had the fine assistance of Sayang Holidays, a travel agency experienced in Asian Pacific travel, to plot a route for us within our time and destination preferences. Pannir has arranged a driver to meet us at the airport for hotel transport. As we arrive at 5:50AM on India’s Tuesday morning (13 ½ hours ahead of us in California) we will have a full day at a hotel in Delhi to try to turn our clocks around. Then we have 8 days of travel planned through Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park and Agra accompanied by a driver to guide us. It sounds quite posh but this is the standard way to travel in India.

On February 16th we will try train travel to Chandigarh where Tyler assures us he will meet us at the train station. We cannot wait to wrap our arms around little Violet, intrepid traveler that she is as well as Tyler and Rachel too. We plan a day in Chandigarh and a two-day side trip to Shimla, all of us together with a driver. Shimla is the historic hill station established by the Raj as the summer home of the British government when Delhi was too hot. Our return home will begin with a train ride to Delhi, freshening up at a hotel, then on the airport for a near midnight flight on Feb 20th to arrive in San Francisco at 11AM on February 21st.

Prayers for our safe travel will be appreciated and we know abundance of blessings await us.

Carol and Monroe Sprague
